What do you love about being a working mom?
I feel like it’s such a privilege that I can continue to do what I love and don’t have to choose between being a Mom or working. I also value being able to provide for my family, which is a big reason why I’m a working Mom.

What is the biggest challenge of being a working mom?
Balancing everything! Between preschool drop-off, working, and preschool pick-up, I’m constantly on the go and doing back-to-back stuff all day. It’s a lot to fit into a work week. I also work from home and because of that, I’m the default parent that stays home when he’s sick.

If you had a magic wand, what one thing would you change about working mom life?
I wish the rest of the child-care world didn’t rely so much on Moms. Somehow I’m the main caregiver in their eyes, so all medical providers, operators, social workers, schooling, and other automated systems choose to contact me instead of my partner.

I think the world has continued to assume that all Moms are stay at home Moms and the only point of contact.

It just adds to the load I’m carrying as a working Mom.

What tips do you have for other working moms?
Don’t be afraid to share with those that you work with that you’re a working Mom. The more open I’ve been about that, the more opportunities I’ve had to connect with clients and my team on a deeper level.

If your child is sick and you need to postpone something, you’ll quickly realize how understanding others can be, because they’ve been there too, and get it.

Any relationship tips for working moms?
Find ways to communicate responsibilities so there isn’t too much resentment or imbalance in the relationship. And of course, make time for each other too!

I like to think I have 2 people to focus on, not just one — my child AND my partner.

What's the best piece of advice your own mother gave you?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help or reach out to others for emotional support.

What stresses you out?
My story of motherhood looks a little different than others, my son was born with a congenital heart disease, which has been very stressful as a first time Mom.

There’s so many things that come up that I don’t know if it’s something to worry about or not. Is it his heart? Or is he just sick?

I’m constantly stressed about his health!

How do you mother yourself?
Things I've started doing for myself once I became a Mom include:

  • Therapy
  • Hiring a nanny
  • Finding a great preschool
  • Hiring cleaners
  • Getting massages
I’ve learned that sharing your load and making time for yourself makes such a big difference!

How and why do you take CBD?
I’ve taken Moment Mints as well as CBD tinctures in hospital settings, and they’re both SO helpful when calming myself. I have so much anxiety in medical environments and CBD has been just the thing I need.
